This painting is an ode to Frida Kahlo. In this painting I draw inspiration from the Southwest culture I revere and Mexican folk art forms. I chose to express the mixed culture of being indigenous and Spanish. Frida also drew inspiration from the metiza ancestry. This piece reflects her nature in solace. It's a pensive outlook on a lifetime of physical pain in which she endured. I wanted to give her peace in this portrait as a way of showing my respect for her as an artist and inspiration
